Landscapes
The wider collection, everything that does not sit in one place.
About Landscapes
Everything that refuses to sit in one of the other groups. Mixed country, farmland, river valleys, weather over open ground, the sort of view that has a bit of everything in it and no single feature you would name it after.
That breadth shows in the measurement. No color dominates the way blue dominates the arctic work or orange the sunsets. Blue leads, teal and deep brown follow, and the spread is wider than anywhere else here, which is what you would expect from a group defined by not being narrow.
It makes this the place to start if you do not already know what you want. A painting from here is less likely to commit a room to a mood, and more likely to sit alongside things you already own. It is also the group to look at when you are buying for someone else, because it asks the least of the wall it ends up on.
